Legacy: In Tribute to the Egyptian Arabian Horse - TheEgyptianPrince

Updated: Dec 5, 2024

They didn’t come better bred than The Egyptian Prince. He was sired by the great Morafic and was out of Morafic’s full sister in blood, the much beloved Gleannloch broodmatron, Bint Mona.

At the time of her arrival in the USA, she was carrying Ibn Antar (x Anter). Next, while Ansata Ibn Halima was on lease to Gleannloch during the 1965 show season, she was bred to him and produced Mohssen. He was a part of the very famous “Class of Six in ‘66” when many one-of-a-kind foals were born of Gleannloch mares by Ansata Ibn Halima. It started on January 6th with El Hilal (x Bint Nefisaa), aptly named for having been born on the date of the first full moon in that year, followed by Dahmah Shahwaniah (x Bint Maisa El Saghira) on February 4th, and in quick succession thereafter, Hossny (x Sanaaa) on the 7th, Mohssen on the 8th, and then Samim (x Salomy) on May 8th, and El Hadiyi (x Sammara) on May 12th. With the exception of Bint Nefisaa, these mares would never again be bred to Ansata Ibn Halima. What a precious gift was given to the world of Straight Egyptian Arabians that year.

It was in that same year that Bint Mona would be bred to Morafic for the first time at Gleannloch and the result was The Egyptian Prince. He was followed by several exceptional sisters: Il Muna, U.S. National Champion Futurity Mare, who, unfortunately, was barren, Illaila, Bint Bint Mona and the chestnut, Norra. Bint Mona had been bred to Morafic one other time and produced the chestnut Farfoura in Egypt prior to her exportation to the USA.

But now back to her son, The Egyptian Prince, the most prolific of all her sons. He sired 826 registered offspring with the Arabian Horse Registry. It appears that his first Straight Egyptian son was MA Banyan (x Safaara RSI, a mare who descends in tail female to Richard Pritzlaff’s mare, Bint Dahma (El Sareei x Dahma II [Nazeer x Futna]). His first Straight Egyptian daughter was the 1977 mare, Shams Al Sabah (x Bint Shaams [El Sareei x Shams [Mashaan x Bint Samiha]). Then followed some of his more famous sons and daughters, MFA Maariia Isis (x Maar-Ree), the handsome ET Crown Prince (x RDM Maar Hala), Akid Fa Mona (x Fa Moniet) and full sister to perhaps his most well known son, Prince Fa Moniet. Then came FMA Tashery (x Maar-Juahara), Hadassa (x Naifartiti), JML Cassiopeia (x Bint Hamamaa), AK Alhana (x Zaenap), Senisa Princess (x Naadya), AK Imaara (x Bahila), AK Amiri Fayrouz (x Maather, and dam of Star Bint Hafiza, dam of Makhnificent KA (x Makhsous). Aziza Princess (x Aziza Samira), another great son, Raquin RA (x AK Zafira [Ibn Moniet El Nefous x Cleopatraa]), Alia Aenor (x Hasna El Badia) and dam of Belle Staar, who was the dam of Thee Vision HG (x Thee Desperado), AK Amiri Asmarr (dam of Thee Desperado [x The Minstril]), BKA Rakiisah (x AK Radia, dam of PVA Karim and his full sister, PVA Turfah).

What a tremendous legacy he left. From great mothers come great sons, and he is a testament to that fact as a son of the immortal Bint Mona. He had a number of great daughters, and was primarily known as a broodmare sire. But when he sired a great son, he really hit it out of the park! Prince Fa Moniet, a 1981 son of Fa Moniet (Ibn Moniet El Nefous x Fada…tail female to the Babson import, Maaroufa) has had a truly global influence. And then ET Crown Prince (x the champion producing El Hilal daughter, RDM Maar Hala). And still another son, Raquin RA (also out of an Ibn Moniet El Nefous daughter, but out of Cleopatraa [Anter x Ahlam II to Bint El Bahrein through Zareefa – the same female line as El Sareei, Bint Maisa El Saghira and others). His influence has been truly global in scope.
